Sandra Lee and her Gallery put on a very grand event the other evening. I happened to be in this exhibition and as a result, am able to have the opportunity of being in a two-person exhibition during 2012. Jazzed for sure!
But now on to some photos from the opening reception – I think I was able to get photos of all or most of the works in the show. The exhibition selections show the genuine openness of the juror Phil Linhares, Chief Curator at Oakland Museum of Art. Displayed are works that range from pure process to conceptual abstractions, along with works that undoubtedly point to the quote “All art is abstract” and works derived from digital technologies. Each of the artists represented are from California, so in an important way features qualities of abstraction that are happening now and perhaps a micro/macro representation of the meaning of abstract itself. (The last statement requires a future essay.)
Great exhibition, I hope you can come by! 251 Post, #310, SF, CA 94108. up through the 27th.
